    About me

Dr. Berg was born and raised in Missoula Montana as a 6th generation Montanan.  He grew up playing in the mountains camping and fishing. Then, he went to undergraduate at Montana State University getting a bachelors in Cell biology and Neuroscience and onto medical school at Pacific Northwest University of Health Science in Yakima, WA, earning a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine.  From there he did his residency at SIU Family Medicine residency in Springfield, IL.  After graduation, he went on to join the SIU Decatur Family Medicine Residency as a faculty member before becoming program director in 2024.  His wife, whom he met in high school, is a pediatrician serving the Decatur community. Along their journey together, they have added two kids and two dogs. They enjoy spending time traveling and camping.

He is grateful to work at SIU and the amazing people in their residency program.
