Walk-in acupuncture appointments available at SIU Center for Family Medicine

Published Date:

Have you ever wanted to try acupuncture? SIU Center for Family Medicine, 520 N. 4th St. in Springfield, is now offering an auricular (ear) acupuncture clinic as of August 2019 on Thursdays from 2-4 p.m. Appointments take 15-20 min and are only $5. Walk-ins are welcome, and you don't need to be established as an SIU Medicine patient.

"The ear is a microcosm for the rest of the body," said Leslie Smith, MD, LAc, director of integrative medicine at SIU Medicine. "In fact, acupuncture is the reason we pierce our ears where we do. For the auricular clinic, I use tiny needles in special places in your ear to treat the rest of the body. You then sit and rest for about 10-15 min with the needles in place."

The acupuncture clinic is located on the first floor of the SIU Center for Family Medicine. Check in at the reception desk on the left (west) side of the building.

Dates and times may change in the future. To see if this service is still available, please call 217-545-8000.
