    About me

Dr. Winters completed his plastic and reconstructive surgery residency at SIU School of Medicine. He returned to Springfield after completing his Orthopedic Hand and Microvascular Surgery Fellowship at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. The fellowship included training at Seattle Children’s Hospital, University of Washington Medical Center, and Harborview Medical Center. During his fellowship, he treated traumatic hand and upper extremity injuries from five states in the Pacific Northwest.

Dr. Winters specializes in conditions of the hand, wrist, and forearm including fractures, nerve problems, tendon and ligament injuries, arthritis, congenital hand, and microvascular soft tissue reconstruction. He also treats a variety of general plastic surgery conditions. He believes in shared clinical decision-making between the patient and surgeon to develop a treatment plan.

Dr. Winters' goal is to help patients return to activities they are passionate about in life.
