    About me

    Madeline Mier, MD grew up in central Illinois. After receiving a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2011), she attended medical school at SIU School of Medicine (2016). Dr. Mier then completed a residency in pediatrics at the University of Illinois at Chicago (2016-2019), where she also served as chief resident (2019-2020). She completed a fellowship in Pediatric Hospital Medicine at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL (2020-2022) where she received the Janet G. Root Award for Outstanding Research by a Fellow for her work on provider handoffs of pediatric unmet social needs at hospital discharge.

    Dr. Mier is excited to return home to SIU to begin her career as a pediatric hospitalist and care for hospitalized children in her community. Her academic interests are primarily in advocacy and include social determinants of health, health disparities and child health policy.
