About me
Dr. M Francesca Monn is an Assistant Professor of Urology at SIU Medicine. She is a fellowship trained Reconstructive Urologist and is passionate about treating urethral and ureteral strictures, urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction, neurogenic bladder, and genital anomalies. She has only recently started at SIU Medicine and continues to build partnerships in the community to address frequently underserved urological disease states.
Dr. Monn earned her medical degree at Indiana University School of Medicine. She received a Masters in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health where she received concentrations in Surgical Trials and Outcomes Research and Health as a Human Right. She completed her Urology residency at Indiana University School of Medicine and subsequently pursued a fellowship in Reconstructive Urology at the Devine-Jordan Center for Advanced Reconstructive Surgery and Pelvic Health at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA.
Dr. Monn has authored over 70 peer-reviewed articles and has presented her research at regional, national, and international conferences. She continues to be actively engaged in the urologic research community and is particularly interested in research involving urethral stricture disease, ureteral stricture disease, neurogenic bladder, and disparities in access to care. One of her greatest passions in medicine is empowering surgeons in less developed settings to surgically manage urologic patients and to enable them to train a future generation of urologic surgeons to address the needs of their community.
