SIU physicians recognized with AMWA 2025 Inspire Award

The American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA) has selected seven physicians at SIU School of Medicine as recipients of the 2025 AMWA INSPIRE Award. This annual award celebrates women physicians who exemplify the highest values of vision, integrity, service and mentorship in medicine and health care.

Honored in this year’s group are:

•    Giovanna Caprirolo, MD, associate professor, Pediatrics 
•    Dana Crosby, MD, professor, Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery 
•    Myto Duong, MD, professor, Emergency Medicine 
•    Mary Dobbins, MD, professor, Family and Community Medicine
•    Pamela Hunter-Reach, MD, assistant professor and medical director, Family and Community Medicine-Carbondale
•    Deedra McLain, MD, assistant professor, Family and Community Medicine-Carbondale 
•    Nichole Mirocha, DO, associate professor, Family and Community Medicine

The AMWA Leadership Council coordinates the annual honors for women physicians who inspire others with their dedication to health care, compassion for patients, leadership, advocacy or community service. Colleagues, mentees, supervisors, trainees or collaborators nominate the recipients.

“Honorees have been lauded for their leadership and professional accomplishments, and most importantly, their impact in supporting and advancing the culture and community of women in medicine,” says Nicole Sandhu, MD, past president of AMWA, and co-chair of the Leadership Council.
