SIUEM Presents Scholarly Projects at CORD EM

SIUEM residents Rik Austin (pictured) and Sven Steen as well as faculty members Rebecka Lopez and Chinmay Patel presented scholarly projects at the 2017 Council of Residency Directors for Emergnecy Medicine in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.  Projects included improving the reporting of errors, an innovative chest escharotomy model, multidisciplinary simulation and patient involvement in the quality improvement of healthcare delivery.

SIU School of Medicine will host the first use of the newest edition of the Advanced Trauma Life Support course in the United States on April 29–30. The Southern Illinois Trauma Center (SITC) at Springfield Memorial Hospital and the Memorial Learning Center are piloting the training.
