About me
Dr. Robert H. Blackwell is an Assistant Professor of Urology at SIU Medicine and sees patients at the Decatur Urology office. He specializes in minimally invasive surgery including, laparoscopy and robotics, for renal cancer, prostate and bladder cancer, as well as renal stone disease.
Dr. Blackwell completed his bachelor’s degree in Biology-Honors & Chemistry at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and his medical degree from the Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. He completed his residency training in Urology followed by a fellowship in Endourology & Minimally Invasive Surgery at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL, and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. During his time at Loyola, Dr. Blackwell was heavily involved in the development of the Division of Clinical Informatics and Analytics, with a focus on surgical outcomes and health disparities in surgical care.
Dr. Blackwell is a diplomate of the American Board of Urology. He has authored over 50 scientific publications and book chapters, and has presented at numerous regional and national meetings.
