About me
Dr. Shailendra Gautam specializes in researching pancreatic cancer, a highly lethal upper gastrointestinal malignancy. The disease presents significant clinical challenges, including a lack of effective biomarkers, early metastasis, limited surgical options, and poor response to current therapies. While immunotherapy has shown promise in treating various cancers, its effectiveness in pancreatic cancer remains limited due to the complexity of the tumor microenvironment and high levels of immunosuppression. Dr. Gautam’s research focuses on understanding the mechanisms driving immunosuppression and therapy resistance. His lab is dedicated to identifying novel pathways that contribute to poor immune responses and developing targeted therapies and immunotherapy strategies to inhibit tumor growth and metastasis in upper gastrointestinal cancers, including pancreatic cancer.
