    About me

    Dr. Sheref Unal is an associate professor of clinical pediatrics at SIU School of Medicine, specializing in the care of pediatric and newborn patients. He received a medical degree from the SIU School of Medicine. He completed his residency and some additional post-graduate training at the Medical University of South Carolina Children's Hospital. Dr. Unal also worked as an Assistant Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina Children's Hospital before returning to SIU Pediatrics where he has been a member of the General Pediatrics Department since 2012 and recently served as the Clerkship Director for Pediatrics and spent the majority of his time as a Newborn Hospitalist at St. John's Women and Children's as an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics. Because of a particular interest in medical student education, Dr. Unal serves as the Director of Undergraduate Medical Education in the Department of Pediatrics. Board-certified in Pediatrics, he has a strong interest in the treatment and care of newborn infants.
