The Office of Compliance and Ethics works in close cooperation with the various academic and administrative offices throughout the medical school and the various support units of SIU Medicine to develop, disseminate and enforce policies, procedures, and guidelines related to a broad range of compliance and regulatory issues.

The covered entities that participate in the OHCA with SIU Medicine are Springfield Clinic, Orthopedic Center of Illinois, and Memorial Physician Services.
The OHCA allows the participating covered entities to share protected health information with each other, as necessary to carry out treatment, payment or healthcare operations related to the OHCA.
The OHCA uses a common electronic medical record among participating covered entities. All providers who participate in the OHCA are able to access the common medical record.
