American Medical Association (AMA)

The American Medical Association (AMA), founded in 1847, is the largest professional association of physicians (MDs and DOs) and medical students in the United States. Representing more than 190 state societies and medical specialty associations—including those in internal medicine, family medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics and emergency medicine—the AMA is dedicated to advancing the art and science of medicine and improving public health.
