Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr. McElveen visits MEDPREP

MEDPREP was honored to host Dr. Russell McElveen, D.O. (center, in blue blazer) for Convocation this Thursday, February 15, 2018. Dr. McElveen partices cardiothoracic surgery with the SIH medical group at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. Dr.McElveen has been a generous mentor to our students through shadowing experiences, and shared the story of his career with first and second year MEDPREP students at the event.

Ginger Meyer has spent more than twenty years helping children and families in southern Illinois heal from trauma, earning national recognition from the Academy on Violence and Abuse. As clinical director of SIU School of Medicine’s Children’s Medical and Mental Health Resource Network, she has expanded access to trauma-informed care in rural communities and kept families at the center of the work.
