SIU's pioneering spirit was ever-present at the 15th Annual Teaching and Learning Symposium at the Springfield campus April 17, hosted by the Academy for Scholarship in Education.

More than 80 works from the area’s finest young artists are featured in the Sangamon County Student Art Exhibit, currently on display in the Medical Library at SIU School of Medicine in Springfield through May 9.

The SIU Physician Assistant Program’s Challenge Bowl team has won the Illinois Academy of Physician Assistants 2025 State Medical Challenge Bowl--their sixth in a row.

SIU School of Medicine will host the first use of the newest edition of the Advanced Trauma Life Support course in the United States on April 29–30. The Southern Illinois Trauma Center (SITC) at Springfield Memorial Hospital and the Memorial Learning Center are piloting the training.

Kevin Le Mentec is the recipient of the 2025 Distinguished Student Service Award for SIU School of Medicine. The honor was announced at the Board of Trustees Meeting in Carbondale on April 17.
