The Just for You Wig Salon at Simmons Cancer Institute offers wigs, hats, and scarves at no cost to cancer patients. The salon benefits from funds raised by BJ Grand Salon & Spa. Support groups

Support groups provide those diagnosed with cancer a place to learn information about their cancer; a place to share feelings, experiences and concerns with others who have the same cancer diagnosis; and a place that gives emotional and spiritual nourishment. Support Groups connect people facing similar challenges. Finding Hope Support Group is open to any cancer patient, spouse/partner, friend, or caregiver. The focus is to provide a safe place to address the emotional needs of cancer patients and their families, provide support and improve health and wellness. Group meets the third Wednesday

Translational and discovery science research Andrea Braundmeier-Fleming, PhD , is a reproductive immunologist focused on women's health, most notably, the role the microbiome plays in preterm birth, endometriosis, ovarian cancer and endometrial cancer. Plastic Surgery residency curriculum overview

Mentorship model SIU Plastic Surgery utilizes a mentorship model. There are five full-time plastic surgery faculty and one clinical part-time faculty. The resident is assigned to a faculty member monthly. That resident is responsible for keeping the same schedule as the attending, including attending all cases, outpatient procedures in the office, rounds, orders, and notes from PGY1-6. This may also mean additional multidisciplinary boards for any patients for that month (VPI clinic, Head and neck tumor board, Melanoma clinic and tumor board, Breast tumor board).
