    About me

    Primary Responsibilities:

    As an Instructor for the Department of Population Science and Policy I work to develop Health Systems Science and Population Science curriculum for students and educational experiences as well as resources on social and structural determinants of health for residents and attendings. I also oversee quality improvement projects and grants related to medical education. I am a trained professional coach and as Co-Director of the Center for Human and Organizational Potential’s Wellness Pillar, I work to further the wellness and personal/professional growth of all students, faculty, and staff at SIU School of Medicine.

    About:

    I received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (1993) and a master’s degree in Human Developmental Counseling (1997) from the University of Illinois Springfield. Before joining SIU, I spent several years working as a counselor in Christian County for Even Start, a federal grant program assisting at-risk families and children work toward better health, education goals, and economic stability.
