Local health care organizations, SPS 186 partner to provide back-to-school physicals, vaccines

SPRINGFIELD, IL – Children entering pre-k, kindergarten, 6 th or 9 th grade, or who are new to Springfield Public School District 186, are required to have school physicals and immunizations. Meningococcal vaccines are also required for all students entering 12 th grade. Parents are encouraged to schedule appointments with their children’s primary care doctor or physician. SPRINGFIELD – Most people follow public health advice to prevent the spread of COVID-19, but many continue to ignore the warnings. A pharmacology and neuroscience student at SIU School of Medicine, Jesse Britz, along with Shelley Tischkau, PhD, and the Smith Alzheimer's Center Hascup Labs , recently researched the link between Alzheimer's and circadian rhythm (the body's 24-hour internal clock). March 1 Study Break: It's a circus!

The Medical Library hosted a circus themed study break for students on March 2. In addition to guzzling coffee, students enjoyed hotdogs, peanuts, cupcakes decorated like popcorn, and other circus-themed snacks. A meeage on a dry-erase board asked students and staff what job they would most enjoy if they worked in a circus: the most common answer was trapeze artist.
