SIU Emergency Medicine residents presented quality projects at the Graduate Medical Education Resident and Fellow Quality Improvement Poster Competition and Symposium. Medical students in the Class of 2020 at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine began their medical training this week at SIU in Carbondale. The students will participate in a “White Coat Ceremony” at 3 p.m. Friday, August 12, in Shryock Auditorium. During the ceremony, Debra Klamen, MD, MHPE, associate dean for education and curriculum and chair of the Department of Medical Education, will welcome the students and read the Hippocratic Oath. Congratulations to Dr. Rory Mills (bottom), Class of 2019, and Shelby Markel (top), MS3, student recipients of the Infection Prevention Award presented by Dr. Subbash Chaudhary, chief of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at SIU Medicine.
