Let's Talk Research: HIPAA Research Essentials

What data does HIPAA cover? How can we use HIPAA data in research? What's the difference between HIPAA authorization and research informed consent? Match Day

Match Day is one of the most exciting dates on the school calendar. It's the day each year when the National Resident Matching Program is announced nationwide. SIU 4th-year medical students will learn their residency training destinations at 11 a.m. on March 17 at the Memorial Learning Center, 228 W Miller St, Springfield. Family and faculty will be there to celebrate the news with them. Guests unable to attend in person can watch the event on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKup6dsHPMc .

Match Day 2024

It's the most eagerly anticipated day in a medical student's journey to becoming a doctor! The National Match Program announcement occurs at 11 AM, Friday, March 15, in the Memorial Learning Center's Nelson Family Auditorium, 228 West Miller St. SIU's fourth-year medical students will learn where they will be going for their residency training, the beginning of their professional careers. The event will be livestreamed in the South Auditorium, 801 North Rutledge, beginning at 10:15 AM, as well as on Facebook.

Match Day 2025

Medical students in the Class of 2025 will discover the residency program matches for their next phase of training on Match Day. The fourth-years and their families will begin gathering at the Memorial Learning Center's Nelson Family Conference Room at 10 a.m. Friday, March 21. Students will open their match results together promptly at 11 a.m. About 43,000 medical students across the U.S. will simultaneously open the envelopes containing the results of the 2025 National Residency Match Program. A live stream of the event begins at 10:30 a.m.

Minds in Motion program preview

The Smith Alzheimer's Center is excited to bring its Minds in Motion program, designed for persons experiencing memory loss or dementia and their caregivers, to the NAACP. From brain games, music, exercise, art and more, the goal of Minds in Motion is to have activities using all five senses to improve or maintain mental, physical, and emotional well-being. Neuroboard Top 10 Hits: Common Neurological Issues for Non-Neurologists

Southern Illinois University School of Medicine's Neurology Symposium This symposium will address the recognition and management of common neurological problems and emergencies for primary care providers, hospitalists, Emergency Medicine providers and other non-neurologists. Participants will also learn how to conduct a neurological examination, determine the appropriate investigations to order, understand the significance of abnormal MRI findings and identify the need for referral to a neurologist.
