Simmons Cancer Institute will provide free colorectal cancer screening kits to area residents at a drive-through event from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 28. Guests can enter Simmons Cancer Institute’s circle drive (315 W. Carpenter) and remain in their vehicle while a kit is brought to them. Colorectal cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths among both men and women in the United States and the second most common cause of cancer deaths when the groups are combined. Colorectal cancer is expected to cause more than 52,000 deaths during 2023

View the artistic talents from the SIU Medicine community at the Scope Art Exhibit. Paintings, drawings and photography are on display April 1-21 in the Medical Library, 801 N. Rutledge. While you're there, vote for your favorite work in the People's Choice Award. Voting ends at the close of business on 4/21. The winner will be announced at the reception at noon April 22 in the Pearson Museum.

Scope is the School of Medicine's annual arts publication. The creativity of SIU medical students, staff and family members is showcased in the new booklet; their artworks are presently on display in the Medical Library. Some of the talented artists and authors will discuss their process at the Scope Luncheon at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, in the Pearson Museum. Everyone is invited to attend and enjoy the food and fun.
