Simmons Cancer Institute at SIU Medicine and our community partners, Regional Cancer Partnership, Memorial Health and Springfield Clinic are hosting a free event for our community. Participants should not be under the care of a dermatologist and is 18 or older. Registrations is required. Please call 217.545.3837 to register for this event.

SIU Dermatology and Memorial Cancer Care in Decatur are partnering to offer a free community skin cancer screening in August. The screenings will be held 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, August 26, at Memorial Cancer Care, 210 W. McKinley Ave., Decatur. The SIU Medicine dermatology team will conduct open screenings for residents of Macon, Sangamon, Shelby, Piatt, Christian, Moultrie, DeWitt and Logan counties. Preregistration and a short consent form are required to participate. Participants should not currently be under the care of a dermatologist. To preregister, call 217-876-4749.

This conference will feature presentations from experts across internal medicine specialties, offering primary care providers valuable updates and advanced insights. SIU medical students step out of the classrooms and clinics and into the community for a Student Day of Service on Saturday, August 24. Learners will tackle chores in the Springfield neighborhoods adjacent to the Mid-Illinois Medical District that include alley clean-up, maintenance and landscaping improvements at Enos Park, Pillsbury Mills and their community gardens.

7th Annual Student-Alumni Dinners hosted by local alumni on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 (or Thursday, March 10) from 6:00 pm to 7:30-8:00 pm. Please complete this form if you are able to host 2-3 students for dinner.

With suicide on the rise within the agriculture community, the Farm Family Resource Initiative is launching an open support group for farmers and farm family members 18 years and older who have lost a loved one to suicide. The group will meet monthly and the meetings will be held virtually. The suicide bereavement support group will meet virtually on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 8 – 9 am.
