The Department of Psychiatry is committed to improving the care of patients with psychiatric disorders through the use of new medical knowledge and research. We offer a wide array of educational and research programs to teach future generations of psychiatrists and psychologists, as well as improve the diagnosis and treatment of patients with psychiatric disorders. Diagnostic Radiology Residency

Since 1974, SIU Diagnostic Radiology has been ACGME-accredited. Upon completion of their training, our diagnostic radiologists are prepared to enter a fellowship, private practice, or academics. Residents spend their first year in Internal Medicine, including two months in Diagnostic Radiology rotations. The second through fifth years are spent in radiology. There are two teaching hospitals - Memorial Medical Center and HSHS St. John's Hospital. Springfield Clinic and CIRA support SIU Radiology's hybrid program. Center for Rural Health and Social Service Development

At the Center for Rural Health and Social Service Development (CRHSSD), we partner with area agencies to address the most pressing health and social service concerns affecting our communities. As part of SIU School of Medicine, our aim is to reduce health disparities in the 66 urban and rural counties across central and southern Illinois. We support and empower residents from 66 counties through research, program evaluations, needs assessments, advocacy work and policy recommendations. Our program is designed to offer advanced training in biochemistry, biophysics, bacteriology, genetics, immunology, microbial physiology, virology, mycology, molecular biology, cell biology, developmental biology, cancer biology and structural biology.
