Residency Match Results List for SIU School of Medicine March 20, 2020, SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS – Senior medical students in the graduating Class of 2020 at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine received results from the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) on Friday, March 20, at the same time other U.S. medical students learned their matches to postgraduate training programs. Our pediatricians are experienced in managing the physical, behavioral and mental health of children ranging in age from birth to young adults. Our pediatricians are trained to diagnose and treat a broad range of childhood illnesses from minor health problems to serious diseases. We are also committed to educating our learners at SIU School of Medicine. Our department participates in the training of medical students and pediatric residents. Helpful Hints and Suggestions Class of 2018 PLEASE take the time to read the Year Four Policies and Procedures and Student Misconceptions. Also review important documents online. Browse through the Electives Catalog (a few times and make a list of the courses that interest you. Make sure you register for enough courses to fulfill graduation requirements. Have your list of choices with you when you meet with your Elective Advisor. The Christmas/New Year weeks (wks 25-26) are not automatic weeks off. Pediatric Clerkship

Goals: In addition to gaining exposure to and understanding of the unique pathophysiology behind common pediatric diagnoses, each student will also come to understand the normal neurodevelopment achieved during childhood and adolescence. Students will also learn to appreciate the unique relationship between pediatric patients, their families and their physicians. Structure: Our 4-week clerkship is a combination of inpatient, general practice, and subspecialty experiences. SIU Alton Family Residency Program Granted Initial Accreditation by the ACGME

In light of our recent accreditation, we put together a short newsletter. Click here for a PDF version of the text below. After months of planning, and much hard work on the part of many people, we applied for and have received accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). We were notified of our official approval on May 4, 2020. The Alliance for Women and Medicine and Science and Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion hosted the second annual Women in Medicine and Science Professional Development conference on Friday, June 14 in the MCLI. First Class: SIU School of Medicine launches Lincoln Scholars Program

Medical students will be based, trained in rural regions Southern Illinois University School of Medicine has a 50-year tradition of educating physicians to improve health care in central and southern Illinois. This summer a new Doctor of Medicine track has been introduced to give students the knowledge, skills and perspective to provide care in rural areas.
