Caregiver Characteristics That May Predict When Patients With Alzheimer Disease Are Placed in Long Term Care Facilities

This research will be conducted by the SIU Memory and Aging Network (MAN), which comprises 38 sites that evaluate and treat patients with dementia throughout non-metropolitan Illinois.  AD patients and their caregivers who are living in private homes will be recruited.  Primary outcome measures will be the ratings of the caregiver’s physical status (grip strength, walking speed, and score on the Timed Up-and-Go Test11 and the rating of the caregiver’s chronic medical illness burden using the Cumulative Illness Rating Scale (Geriatric).12,13  The patient and caregiver dyad is required.

HyPhen: Hypertension Phenotype Study

This is a local research study to relate heart health and various components found in your body (body fat, sodium, etc.) to high blood pressure during pregnancy, and those with apparently normal blood pressure.

Eligible participants include those with high blood pressure, those receiving treatment for their high blood pressure, women who had high blood pressure during pregnancy, and those with apparently normal blood pressure.

The purpose of this clinical study is to evaluate the real-world use of the Paradise Ultrasound Renal Denervation System indicated for patients who are unable to lower their blood pressure with lifestyle changes and medication.

Eligible patients include those who currently have a diagnosis of high blood pressure despite having taken or are currently taking anti-hypertensive medications.
