Doula Training Organizations
Illinois Medicaid-Certified Doula Program
The following training organizations’ curricula have been reviewed and approved as meeting the required training components. Applicants may submit training certificates from these organizations when applying through the Training Program Pathway.
Doulas who hold certificates from training organizations not listed may still apply using their training credentials; however, additional curriculum documentation will be required.

*These training organizations divide prenatal/labor & delivery and postpartum into two separate training courses; applicants need to show verification of both trainings

Note to training organizations about submitting curriculum for review
Doula training organizations can submit curriculum for review twice per year. We encourage you to utilize the Self-Assessment Rubric before submitting your request to be added to the Reviewed Training Organizations List.
The reviewed training organizations list is updated in January and July each year. Below is the schedule for submitting.

Curriculum Review Cycle 1
- March 1 – April 30: Open submission of curriculum.
- May 1 – June 30: Review new submissions and contact organizations regarding their status.
- July 1: Update the approved training list on website.
Curriculum Review Cycle 2
- September 1 – October 31: Open submission of curriculum.
- November 1 – December 31: Review new submissions and contact organizations regarding their status.
- Week of January 2: Update the approved training list on website.
About the Program
SIU School of Medicine's Office of Certification Strategies administers the Illinois Medicaid-Certified Doula Program with oversight and guidance by the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services.
