Student interest groups

Family Medicine believes that student interest groups are important avenues for medical students to investigate areas of interest. The faculty advisors and coordinators work closely with the students to develop programs that are meaningful, educational, and fun for the students. Most interest groups are held after 5:00 PM on campus. Often interest group meetings are sponsored and provided by outside agencies, hospitals, and other medical institutions.

The student interest groups that are sponsored by our department include:

  • Family Medicine (FMIG)
  • Interdisciplinary Network for Outreach (INFO), a community outreach based group
  • Global Interest Group
  • The Forum, a group focused on Humanism

If you are interested in providing an opportunity for medical students in an area appropriate for one of our interest groups or interested in locations, dates, and times of sessions please contact Dr. Christopher L. Gleason at cgleason@siumed.edu
