Program overview

Fellowship Training Structure The fellowship program offers a comprehensive, structured curriculum over three years. During the first year, fellows participate in both inpatient and outpatient rotations, with time divided between the two settings. They also establish and maintain a continuity clinic, allowing them to manage a dedicated panel of patients throughout their training. In the second year, fellows engage in focused subspecialty rotations, including Gynecologic Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Hematopathology, Blood Bank, Palliative Care, Pharmacy, and additional outpatient service. Hematology and Oncology Introduction and Goals

SIU School of Medicine offers a three-year, ACGME-accredited Hematology and Medical Oncology Fellowship Program. We are approved to train up to nine fellows, accepting three new fellows each academic year. Applications are accepted exclusively through ERAS. Please note that the program does not sponsor H1B visas. We will participate in the 2025 National Fellowship Match, which opens on August 27, 2025, with an application deadline of August 31, 2025. For the 2026–2027 academic year, we will have three available positions. Interviews will be conducted in person on Fridays throughout September
