SIU Medicine faculty named 'Best Doctors'

The latest edition of Best Doctors includes listings for 18 SIU physicians. Founded in 1989 by Harvard Medical School, Best Doctors are selected by impartial peer review in more than 450 medical specialty/subspecialty combinations, with review of their diagnosis and treatment plans. Responsible Conduct of Research Class

Course Director: Donald S. Torry, Ph.D. 2023 Class meetings: dates/times to be determined. The Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) is offered every other year at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Dr. Donald Torry, Associate Dean for Research, serves as the course director. All of the topics covered in this course are included in PHS guidelines as required training for some types of NIH-sponsored research. The course is MANDATORY for trainees, fellows, participants, and scholars receiving support through any NIH training, career development awards (individual or institutional)

History

Southern Illinois University School of Medicine was established in 1970 to assist the people of central and southern Illinois in meeting their health care needs. SIU has focused on training caring physicians and is internationally recognized for its innovative teaching and testing techniques. Each of the four classes comprises 72 students. First-year students spend their year in Carbondale. Nearly 1,000 SIU graduates are now practicing in Illinois. SIU is a national leader in the percentage of graduates who enter primary care.
