Become an Illinois Medicaid-Certified Doula There are two pathway options to qualify for reimbursement for doula services under the Medical Assistance Program: the Training Program Pathway or the Legacy Pathway. A doula must be certified by the Illinois Medicaid-Certified Doula Program, administered by SIU School of Medicine, to obtain a certificate for either pathway. An application must be submitted and approved through SIU's Illinois Medicaid-Certified Doula application system.
