Skin cancer screenings in Jacksonville on Aug. 24

Jacksonville Memorial Hospital and Simmons Cancer Institute will offer a free community skin cancer screening event from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 24, at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital, 1600 W. Walnut St. Screenings will be conducted by a dermatology team from Simmons Cancer Institute at SIU School of Medicine. Participants should not currently be under the care of a dermatologist. “Prevention, awareness and education are important parts of the care we offer,” said Aziz Khan, MD, executive director of Simmons Cancer Institute and chief of hematology oncology for SIU Medicine.

Skin cancer screenings in Decatur on Aug. 26

SIU Dermatology and Memorial Cancer Care in Decatur are partnering to offer a free community skin cancer screening in August. The screenings will be held 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, August 26, at Memorial Cancer Care, 210 W. McKinley Ave., Decatur. The SIU Medicine dermatology team will conduct open screenings for residents of Macon, Sangamon, Shelby, Piatt, Christian, Moultrie, DeWitt and Logan counties. Preregistration and a short consent form are required to participate. Participants should not currently be under the care of a dermatologist. To preregister, call 217-876-4749.
