Taste of Carbondale 2022

Published Date:

Do spring rolls, ribs, desserts, and great company while learning about Family Medicine sound appealing? The Family Medicine Interest Group and the Taste of Carbondale Event is just what you are looking for. The event held this fall was an excellent way for faculty, residents, and medical students to meet and discuss Family Medicine.

Every year, medical students graduate and set out to find a residency program to complete their medical education. Here at the SIU Family Medicine Residency Carbondale we desire to provide opportunities for medical students beginning in their first year of education. This event was designed to educate attendees about life as a resident and share opportunities for rotations and sub-Internships for students 3rd and 4th years.

Sharon Smaga, MD, Pamela Hunter-Reach, MD, and Deedra McLain, MD, at SIU Family Medicine Residency Program set the standard in medical education for the Carbondale area. The residency program strives to provide a firm foundation to produce diverse, passionate, and exceptional professionals in the field of Family Medicine and hopes to make the Taste of Carbondale an annual event.
