New SIU Clinic to Open at Taylorville Memorial Hospital

TAYLORVILLE, IL - Southern Illinois University School of Medicine is opening a Center for Family Medicine clinic inside Taylorville Memorial Hospital. The new SIU primary care clinic will open on Jan. 15 and will initially be located in the Specialty Clinic space, near the nonprofit hospital’s Laboratory and Rehab Services departments. Dr. Janet Albers, physician assistant Christine Albers and nurse practitioner Airn Etherton will see patients three half-days per week. Southern Illinois University offers a unique MD/MPH dual degree through a collaboration between SIU School of Medicine and SIU Carbondale College of Health and Human Sciences . Students who have been accepted to medical school at SIU School of Medicine, and have not yet started medical school, are eligible to apply for the MD/MPH program. Apply to medical school at SIU School of Medicine. The MD/MPH program is a five-year program beginning in Carbondale. Simmons Cancer Institute Now Accepting Summer Internship Applications

Applications for the 2019 summer lab internships at Simmons Cancer Institute (SCI) at Southern Illinois University (SIU) School of Medicine are being accepted through March 15, 2019. The cancer institute will award four positions to qualified undergraduate college students who plan a career in medicine or biomedical research with a focus on cancer. The paid internship program, which provides hands-on experience for college undergraduates and are awarded on a competitive basis, began in 2009.
