SIUEM Orthopedic Skills Day

SIU Emergency Medicine residents and medical students participated in an orthopedic skills lab today at the Memorial Center for Learning and Innovation (MCLI.)  Springfield Clinic orthopedic surgeon Dr. Matthew Gardner with the help of SIU orthopedic residents instructed learners on fracture reduction and proper splinting technique.  A new addition to the training day was a simulated distal forearm fracture model.

This 2nd annual skills lab made possible by the staff of the SIU Surgical Skills Lab at the MCLI and our orthopedic colleagues will continue to elevate emergency orthopedic care in our EDs.
