2020 Vision: Rural Health in Focus in Electoral Politics

Health advocates across the country experienced an apex of information and agenda-setting on the issue of rural health in early February. When New Hampshire voters made their way to the polls, they did so with more information on candidate stances on rural health than in any other recent election. 2021 Graduate Student Research Symposium

Three graduate students from the Department of Pharmacology won awards at the 31st Annual Graduate Student Research Symposium held on April 23, 2021. Jesse Britz from Dr. Tischkau’s lab won 1st place for his oral presentation. Caleigh Findley from Dr. Erin Hascup’s lab and Madan Ghimire from Dr. Caspary’s lab won 3rd place for their oral presentations. 2021 Honored Alumni

Ronald Romanelli, MD, ’83 Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award Ron Romanelli, MD, has three degrees from SIU and was president of the Orthopedic Center of Illinois in Springfield for more than 20 years. He held leadership roles and served on numerous committees at both Memorial Medical Center and HSHS St. John’s Hospital. Most importantly, his career has been filled with mentoring scores of young learners, contributing in countless ways to the knowledge of SIU students and resident physicians. 2023 Commencement: Take the less-traveled road

2023 Commencement: Take the less-traveled road New physicians, research scientists and instructors at SIU School of Medicine received their diplomas on May 20, at the school’s 49th annual commencement. The ceremony at the Performing Arts Center at the University of Illinois Springfield celebrated the achievements of the graduates and featured speeches from faculty members, alumni and administrators.
