Southern Illinois University School of Medicine's Neurology Symposium This symposium will address the recognition and management of common neurological problems and emergencies for primary care providers, hospitalists, Emergency Medicine providers and other non-neurologists. Participants will also learn how to conduct a neurological examination, determine the appropriate investigations to order, understand the significance of abnormal MRI findings and identify the need for referral to a neurologist.
This conference is designed for primary care providers and other non-neurologists. Advanced practice providers and other health professionals are welcome to attend. LEARNING OBJECTIVES At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to: Demonstrate the technique of neurological examination. List strategies to diagnose and manage common neurological conditions including: headache epilepsy movement disorders stroke neuropathy cognitive disorders multiple sclerosis pain Explain the indications and utility of EEG, EMG and neuroimaging studies.
