Alumni Relations

Since 1975, SIU School of Medicine has educated and trained more than 3,300 MD alumni, and 4,000 resident and fellow alumni. Every graduate becomes a member of the School of Medicine Alumni Society. There are no dues. The Office of Development & Alumni Relations and the Alumni Society seek to provide meaningful ways to connect and engage its alumni and current students with their alma mater and with each other. Through events and outreach, we help to foster lasting relationships and advance the school’s mission of better health for all.

Welcome to the SIU Foundation in Springfield. We work with private donors, schools, foundations and businesses to achieve SIU Medicine’s strategic goal of supporting students, patients, families and staff. We solicit and accept gifts, manage and invest funds, and prudently distribute funds for educational, research and charitable purposes. Through research grants, scholarships and other opportunities for people in need, we create services that promote maximal impact on both an organization and individual level. Information Technology

At the Department of Information Technology at SIU Medicine, our team of specialists provides an array of services to support faculty, staff, medical students and residents. We provide timely troubleshooting assistance, ensure our organization is protected by appropriate fail-safes and backup plans and maintain our community’s internet of things (IoT), including all medical devices embedded with software and other technology to connect and exchange data. We provide education, training and competency opportunities to SIU Medicine employees in order to help create a culture of digital workplace

Internal Medicine

The Department of Internal Medicine at SIU Medicine is dedicated to providing quality patient care to central and southern Illinois. Doctors who specialize in Internal Medicine are known as internists. Our internists have a thorough understanding of various diseases affecting parts of the body, including the heart, skin, hormonal system, blood, kidneys, lungs and joints. Internists play a central role in organizing a patient’s clinical care across a spectrum of specialties and provide services in both hospitals and outpatient settings. General Internal Medicine

Welcome to the Division of General Internal Medicine. Our general internal medicine physicians have undergone extensive training and have a deep foundation of clinical and practical knowledge that allows them to provide the complete range of medical care for adults, including the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses, gynecological care, urgent care and minor surgery. Our general internists serve as advocates for disease prevention and health promotion. Family Medicine Clerkship

The required Year 3 Family and Community Medicine (FCM) Clerkship offers a 4-week block immersion experience with community-based preceptors or faculty members from the department’s four residency programs.
