Welcome to the Southern Illinois Trauma Center at SIU Medicine. We are the first Level 1 trauma center in the region, allowing us to provide complex urgent and emergency care for the residents of 18 area counties.

We’ve partnered with Springfield Memorial Hospital and local emergency medical services to provide the expert and efficient care you or your loved ones deserve during your most vulnerable times of need. Our medical providers are highly skilled and trained in the diagnosis and emergency treatment of a variety of acute illnesses and injuries.

SIU School of Medicine will host the first use of the newest edition of the Advanced Trauma Life Support course in the United States on April 29–30. The Southern Illinois Trauma Center (SITC) at Springfield Memorial Hospital and the Memorial Learning Center are piloting the training.
