    Description

    Under direction and assistance of mentor and laboratory staff, the candidate will perform experiments, analyze data resulting from experiments, and prepare necessary data for reports for laboratory meetings.

    Qualifications
    1. Must be currently enrolled as a college student. If appointment is to be made during the summer months, individual must show transcript or grade slip verification that they are/were enrolled during the Spring semester immediately prior to the appointment (a student ID is not sufficient); AND
    2. Must have successfully completed no less than 30 semester hours of college coursework, with at least one course in the field of science or biology with related laboratory training; AND
    3. Must be 18 years of age or older.

    Medical Office Specialist

    Springfield - Cancer Institute Clinic

    Description

    The person in this position performs functions related to the daily operations of the Simmons Cancer Institute. The individual is expected to work independently in a variety of appointment skillsets, but also functions as a lead worker in the absence of the Medical Office Coordinator. The incumbent assists training staff, maintaining protocols, and developing and implementing procedures.

    Qualifications
    1. Any one or any combination totaling two (2) years (24 months), from the categories below:
      1. College education with coursework in a medical or para-medical field such as nursing assistant, medical assistant, or medical secretary and/or business fields such as business, finance, computer science, public administration, or social science, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
        • 30 semester hours equal one (1) year (12 months)
        • Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
        • 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
      2. Work experience comparable to that performed at the Medical Office Associate level or in other positions of comparable responsibility.

    Certified Nurse Practitioner

    Description

    Participate as a full-time physician extender in the Division of Hematology/Oncology and in departmental and medical school activities.

    Qualifications
    • Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations;
    • Gradudation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program;
    • Current national nurse practitioner certification that includes completion of an examination recognized by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation;
    • Current Illinois Advanced Practice Nurse license.
