Purpose An operative performance rating system (OPRS) for Urology residents was developed for 6 sentinel urological procedures. This study tests the reliability, validity, and feasibility of an OPRS for Urology residents. Materials and Methods Each procedure OPRS contained a 3-point case difficulty scale, 4 to 6 procedure specific items, 3 general items, and an overall performance item. The Urology Residency Program at SIU School of Medicine complies with the current and upcoming curriculum as set forth by the Residency Review Committee in Urology and the ACGME. All five years of training are now incorporated into the urology residency. This five-year program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. At the completion of the residency program, residents are eligible for certification by the American Board of Urology. The SIU urology division participates in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) where application materials are transmitted from medical schools and the Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) to selected programs via the internet. Applicants are responsible for accessing the proper equipment to complete the application process and for submitting all required documents.
