Critical Conditions: Training for Trauma and Violence at Work

Educational tracks

Considering an educational track? Some residents decide during residency that their future practice may emphasize certain aspects of Family Medicine more than others. For example, a resident might sign a contract in the second year of residency that includes providing OB care, nursing home directorship, or sports team coverage, whereas another might not. Other times, residents simply desire more in depth exposure to certain areas of Family Medicine than is supplied through the traditional curriculum. Our background The SIU Alton Family Medicine Residency Program is part of the graduate medical education division of Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. The school was founded to meet the on-going need for physicians in southern/central Illinois and has had, from its inception, an orientation towards primary care in general and Family Medicine in particular. Resident Scholarly Activity

The SIU Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery residency program prides itself on our commitment to engaging residents in high-quality, meaningful, and fruitful research activities. Our residents are allotted three months of research time during their training. This is typically divided such that each resident receives one research month during PGY2 and two consecutive months during PGY3. During their research experience, residents are required to identify one or multiple mentors in advance and meet with them weekly to ensure appropriate mentorship.
