Pediatric Residency clinical experience

Our residents have continuity clinic one half-day per week throughout their entire residency. In clinic, they have their own panel of patients. We offer true continuity of care - many of our patients come to the SIU Pediatrics Residency Clinic from birth and stay until we set them up with an internist before college! You will have the opportunity to follow your patients throughout your 3 years here, watching them grow and develop. A model for medical education

If SIU School of Medicine is known for one thing, it is innovation in medical education. At the time SIU School of Medicine was created, medical instruction was fundamentally lecture-based. Led by the Dean, Dr. Richard Moy, the SIU faculty chose a different tack, one that emphasized solving real-world health problems rather than memorizing facts. cHOP Launches Book Club

The Center for Human and Organizational Potential invites team members to join its new book club. "One of our strategies for developing a mindset around leadership and excellence across the organization is to begin a movement of book clubs across SIU School of Medicine," said John Mellinger, MD, leader of the cHOP's leadership and excellence initiatives. SIU Medicine Grants Medical Degrees at 45th Commencement

Sixty-five physicians and three graduate students at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine received their diplomas Saturday, May 18, in the Sangamon Auditorium at University of Illinois Springfield during the school’s 45 th commencement. This year’s commencement speaker was Senait Fisseha, MD, JD, director of International Programs at the Susan T. Buffet Foundation, responsible for distributing more than $300 million in annual grants to support reproductive health around the world. Originally from Ethiopia, Fisseha earned her legal degree at SIU in 1996 and her medical degree in 1999
