30th Annual Trainee Research Symposium--Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Fellows

Friday, April 17, 2020, 8:30 a.m. Springfield Campus Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Fellows are invited to submit scholarly research abstracts for presentation at the 2020 Trainee Research Symposium. Participants must be first author, and the work must have been conducted under the guidance of an SIU faculty member. A subcommittee will review each abstract and assign an oral or a poster presentation to the trainee. Further information and directions are available on the ADR website. Wednesday, April 15, 2020, 8 a.m. Springfield Campus Medical students, residents, and clinical fellows are invited to submit abstracts for presentation at the 2020 Trainee Research Symposium. Scholarly activities eligible for consideration include all Original Research (hypothesis-driven discovery/translational/clinical studies) as well as clinically significant Case Vignettes (case reports). Quality improvement projects are NOT eligible. Presenting trainees must be first author and the work must have been conducted under the guidance of SIU faculty member(s). All abstracts will be reviewed

Trainee Research Symposium--Guidelines and Directions

Friday, April 17, 2020, 8:30 a.m. (Carbondale students will not present before 10 a.m.) South Auditorium, Bohn/Nielsen Lobby, and Pearson Museum Springfield Campus Eligibility: Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Fellows are invited to submit research abstracts for presentation (oral or poster) at the Symposium. Participants must be first author, and the work must have been conducted under the guidance of an SIU faculty member. Only one abstract submission AS FIRST AUTHOR is allowed per trainee. The faculty mentor must approve the submitted abstract, including authorship. Symposium Format

On Nov. 21, SIU School of Medicine hosted the 2019 Leadership Springfield class for a morning of education and leadership in health care. Thirty-two guests from business, government, nonprofit organizations and the community toured the campus, gaining a deeper understanding of the medical district’s economic impact and specifically, the school’s mission to train physicians and enhance regional health. Presenters included: • Dr. John Mellinger , Vice Chair of Surgery, SIU School of Medicine • Ed Curtis, President and CEO, Memorial Health System • E.J. Kuiper, President and CEO, HSHS St. John’s
