2017 ACOG Annual Clinical and Scientific Meeting May 6-9, 2017, San Diego, California

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists held its clinical and scientific meeting in San Diego, CA on May 6-9, 2017. Two SIU Medicine medical students and one resident presented their research at this meeting. Sofia Candel is a fourth year medical student, who is going into an OB/GYN residency this summer, and Christine Sulmers is a third year medical student planning to pursue an OB/GYN residency next year. Professional Development Laboratory

The Professional Development Laboratory (PDL) is a suite of eight fully functional patient examination rooms surrounding a secure central observation room. Faculty observe students in standardized and real patient encounters from the observation room using audiovisual equipment and one-way glass. The PDL is used throughout the curriculum (undergraduate, graduate, and continuing medical education) for teaching and assessment. Medical Student Rotations

SIU Center for Family Medicine - Quincy is proud to provide educational opportunities for pre-medical students as well as medical students through the fourth year. The students will find eager teachers in our residents and faculty. We have ample opportunities for hands-on development of skills, both in the hospital as well as outpatient setting. Several rotations exist, including: family medicine, emergency medicine, sports medicine, obstetrics, ENT and ICU.
