In addition to gaining exposure to and understanding of the unique pathophysiology behind common pediatric diagnoses, each student will also come to understand the normal neurodevelopment achieved during childhood and adolescence. First Year Curriculum

The first year begins with a 1-2 week orientation. Call system emphasizes the initial assessment and management of medical problems through a longitudinal emergency medicine experience. Taken from home and is done with a senior resident During the week during the evenings 5:30pm-10pm and averages every 6 th evening Every other weekend call is 6am-10pm Total average 5 call days a month Clinic is two half-days a week at SIU Quincy Family Practice The first-year rotations are all required rotations and involved mostly inpatient care. 3 blocks on the Family Practice inpatient service 2 blocks
