Springfield Resources Medical insurance Springfield medical students are assessed two fees for healthcare: Primary Care Fee – covering basic primary care visits, and basic laboratory studies and simple x-rays ordered by the primary care physician. Student Medical Extended Care Fee - Providing the SIU Student Health Insurance Plan that covers expenses such as emergency rooms, hospitalization, surgery, ambulance, specialty care, and advanced laboratory studies and imaging.
