Expertise The Gynecological Oncology division, directed by Laurent Brard MD, PhD, provides women throughout Central and Southern Illinois with expert, specialized care for the treatment of all types of gynecologic cancers. Established in July 2019, the mission of the Office of Community Initiatives and Complex Care is to remove "complex" out of "complex care" and support programs that bring improved access, increase self-sufficiency, and increase healing for all. The office has multiple programs available to our community. All programs use motivational interviewing, harm reduction, and trauma-informed care concepts to decrease isolation and develop a trusting relationship with residents living in central and southern Illinois. Submission Policy Page All applications for external funding, letters of intent including budget information, and subcontracts/consortiums submitted from SIU School of Medicine must be reviewed and approved before submission through the ADR Office. To allow sufficient time for application review and approval, the following due dates must be adhered: Please send an initial notification of intent to apply for any mechanism and the funding agency guidelines as far in advance as possible, at the very least, 2 weeks prior to submission deadline. A major gift to SIU School of Medicine will transform the health care of people throughout Illinois and beyond. Springfield couple Dale and Deborah Smith donated a substantial financial gift to the Center for Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders at SIU Medicine to expand research, enhance programming and improve care for people with Alzheimer’s disease and assist their caregivers. The center will now be named the Dale and Deborah Smith Center for Alzheimer’s Research and Treatment at SIU Medicine.
