Psychiatry

Welcome

The Department of Psychiatry is committed to improving the care of patients with psychiatric disorders through the use of new medical knowledge and research.

We offer a wide array of educational and research programs to teach future generations of psychiatrists and psychologists, as well as improve the diagnosis and treatment of patients with psychiatric disorders.
The department's educational programs include courses and clinical rotations in undergraduate medical education, a residency program in adult psychiatry and a clinical fellowship in child psychiatry. We strive to meet high-performance standards continually and are delivering superior quality services to our patients.

Students, residents, and fellows benefit from learning in diverse clinical environments, including our partner hospitals Memorial Medical Center and HSHS St. John's Hospital, the Illinois Behavioral Health Workforce Center and the academic medical practice, SIU Medicine.
