Hingle Named Associate Dean of New SIU Center for Human and Organizational Potential

Susan Thompson Hingle, MD, has been selected as the associate dean for the Center for Human and Organizational Potential (cHOP) at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Dr. Hingle will direct and guide the development the new center’s programs, with focus on wellness, leadership and excellence, and professional development. Hingle Named Chair of National Doctor's Group

San Diego – Susan Thompson Hingle, MD, FACP, has been named Chair of ACP’s Board of Regents of the American College of Physicians (ACP), the national organization of Internal Medicine specialists. Her term began during Internal Medicine Meeting 2017, ACP’s annual scientific meeting held in San Diego from March 30-April 1. A resident of Springfield, Ill., Dr. Hingle is Professor of Medicine and an Internal Medicine specialist at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Home Sweet Home: IDoA Issues Grant to Help Keep Alzheimer's Patients in Homes Longer

People living with Alzheimer’s disease may be able to stay in their homes longer, thanks to a three-year, $701,994 grant to Southern Illinois University Medicine’s Center for Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders (CADRD). “Giving patients and caregivers the support and resources they need means patients are less likely to end up in costly assisted living or elder care facilities,” said Tom Ala, MD, interim director of the CADRD in Springfield. The Eta Chapter of Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine inducted 14 new members at its spring banquet held May 19 at Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield. Newly inducted members from the Class of 2018 include: Sian Best, daughter of James and Mary Best of Champaign; Kody Bolk, son of Tim and Carrie Bolk of Carlyle; and Madison Marvel of Dunlap, daughter of Mike and Dena Marvel of San Diego. Hotline for IDOC

The Correctional Medicine IDOC COVID-19 Help Line will be operational 24-hours a day during the pandemic The Office of Correctional Medicine, in partnership with the Department of Internal Medicine, recently established a dedicated COVID-19 hotline for the Illinois Department of Corrections to assist with managing the health and well-being of its workforce during this difficult time.
