Volunteer Information Session for the Smith Alzheimer's Center

Are you looking for a fun and rewarding volunteer opportunity? The Smith Alzheimer’s Center is seeking volunteers to assist staff with our community outreach programs. Designed to be fun, active and engaging, these programs fill a vital need for early-stage dementia patients and their caregivers. Join us for an informational meeting on Tuesday, July 25 to learn more about how you can volunteer. Volunteers do not need to have a healthcare background. You just need a desire to make a difference in someone else’s life in our community. This can be also a fun way for you to stay active and healthy

Walk to End Alzheimer's

Join us for a walk! The Smith Alzheimer's Center will have a team at the Alzheimer's Association Illinois Chapter's Walk to End Alzheimer's on Oct. 1 at Southwind Park. You can register and join our team through the link above, and help show your support by joining us to raise awareness about Alzheimer's and related disorders. The Smith Alzheimer's Center will help kick off the walk by cheering participants on at the starting line, as well as providing motivation around the Southwind Park trail. There is no requirement to donate, just a pair of comfortable walking shoes!

White Coat Coat Ceremony - SIU School of Medicine Class of 2028

A White Coat Ceremony at SIU School of Medicine celebrates the new students in the Class of 2028. During the August 16 event in Carbondale’s Shryock Auditorium, students receive white coats to signify the beginning of their journey to become physicians. Family members and guests who are unable to attend can watch the ceremony on YouTube .
