Fertility and IVF Center

If you’re trying to have a baby and it is taking longer than expected, you are not alone! One in every nine couples of childbearing age has a problem conceiving, but there is hope for you at the SIU Fertility and IVF Center. Recent medical advances make pregnancy possible for most couples wishing to undergo treatments to have a baby.

Simmons Cancer Institute

Simmons Cancer Institute at SIU was established in 2001 to offer personalized cancer care, infusion services, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for patients and families in central and southern Illinois. Our team of surgeons, radiologists, oncologists, genetic counselors, therapists and nurses assists nearly 1,750 patients each month.

Institute for Plastic Surgery

Plastic surgery is a specialized branch of medicine involving surgical alteration and reconstruction of different parts of the human body. Plastic surgeons undergo extensive training to help patients living with a wide range of conditions, from burns to cancer.

Centers for Family Medicine

We administer the largest university-owned FQHC network in the country. Our 15 site FQHC is working to meet the health care needs of both our patients and the communities where they live and work. Our sites include Carbondale, Decatur, Quincy, Springfield and many other communities across central and southern Illinois. 

The SIU Centers for Family Medicine serves all the health care needs of our patients and our communities in a compassionate and affordable environment. We do this by staying focused on our vision of providing compassionate quality health services and leading healthcare education

Alzheimer's Center

The Dale and Deborah Smith Center for Alzheimer’s Research and Treatment at SIU Medicine provides clinical care, research and community programs throughout Illinois. Since 1986, its employees have diagnosed, treated and educated Illinois families with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. In the past year, the center, along with its Memory and Aging Network, has served more than 4,000 patients and their families.

SIU Medicine IRB (Institutional Review Board)

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is responsible for reviewing proposed research that includes humans as subjects.  This includes any study which is: (1) sponsored by Southern Illinois University School of Medicine (SIU-SOM); (2) conducted in any SIU-SOM facility; or (3) conducted by SIU-SOM faculty, staff, residents or medical students. Research to be performed by a community-based investigator and/or research to be conducted in any SIU-SOM-affiliated hospitals or sites may also be reviewed by the IRB with the appropriate authorization agreements.
